Corey Andrew Knebel is an American baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies (MLB). It’s been a while since he played in MLB with the Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Knebel grew up in Bastrop County, Texas, and was born in Denton, Texas.
He was a three-year letter winner and previous district MVP in baseball at Bastrop High School. He played basketball at school. He went to Georgetown High School for his senior year.
The Tigers selected Knebel 39th overall in the 2013 MLB Draft. Before being called up by the Tigers, he spent time with the West Michigan Whitecaps, Erie Seawolves, and Toledo Mud Hens.
On May 24, 2014, Knebel debuted against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers traded him to the Brewers for Yovani Gallardo on January 19, 2015. In May 2017, he replaced Neftali Feliz as the Brewers’ permanent closer.
Knebel hurt his left hamstring throwing against the Chicago Cubs on April 5, 2018. On July 19, Knebel’s 45-game run ended following a failure to save against the Pittsburgh Pirates. With the Milwaukee Brewers, he had a 2–3 record and a 5.08 ERA in 41 appearances
