Nicholas B. Nelson is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies in the United States (MLB).
He formerly played for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball. Nelson went to Panama City, Florida’s Rutherford High School.
He was picked in the 31st round of the 2014 MLB draft by the San Francisco Giants, however, he did not sign and instead played collegiate baseball at Gulf Coast Community College.
The New York Yankees selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB draft and signed him.
While with the Pulaski Yankees, Nelson made his professional debut, finishing 0–3 with a 3.38 ERA in 21+1/3 innings of work, a season-low.
The 2017 season saw him pitch for the Charleston RiverDogs, compiling a 3–12 record with a 4.56 ERA over 22 starts, and the 2018 season saw him pitch for the RiverDogs, the Tampa Tarpons, and the Trenton Thunder, compiling a combined 8–6 record with a 3.55 ERA over 26 games (25 starts) across three teams.
After spending the first half of 2019 pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays, he moved on to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, finishing 8–3 with a 2.81 earned-run average over 18 games (17 starts), striking out 114 in 89+2/3 innings.
