Nicholas B. Nelson is an American professional baseball pitcher who now plays for the Philadelphia Phillies in Major League Baseball. Nelson was born on December 5, 1995, in the United States.
He held a position with the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball. Nelson went to Panama City, Florida’s Rutherford High School.
He was picked in the 31st round of the 2014 MLB draft by the San Francisco Giants, however, he did not sign and instead played collegiate baseball at Gulf Coast Community College.
The New York Yankees selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB draft and signed him. Nelson debuted with the Pulaski Yankees, going 0–3 with a 3.38 ERA in 21+13 innings.
In 2017, he threw for the Charleston RiverDogs, going 3–12 with a 4.56 ERA in 22 starts, and in 2018, he pitched for the Charleston, Tampa Tarpons, and Trenton Thunder, going 8–6 with a 3.55 ERA in 26 games across the three organizations.
He was 8–3 with a 2.81 ERA in 18 games with Tampa, Trenton, and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in 2019, striking out 114 batters in 89+23 innings.
On July 26, 2020, Nelson was added to the Yankees’ MLB roster. He made his MLB debut against the Boston Red Sox on August 1, tossing three scoreless innings in relief and earning the victory.
