Who is Mickey Moniak?
Mickey Moniak is a Major League Baseball outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies in the United States. The Phillies selected Moniak with the first overall choice in the 2016 MLB draft.
Moniak played center field for the baseball team at La Costa Canyon High School in San Diego, California. He hit .461 as a sophomore, with two home runs and 27 runs batted in (RBI).
Moniak hit .426 as a junior in 2015, with a 1.062 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS). He participated in the Perfect Game All-American Classic at Petco Park in August of that year.
Moniak batted.476 with a.961 slugging percentage in 29 games as a senior in 2016, with 40 runs, 12 triples (a San Diego Section record), seven home runs, and 46 RBI.
He was voted High School Player of the Year by Baseball America, Gatorade California Baseball Player of the Year by Gatorade, and San Diego Section Player of the Year by San Diego Section.
Moniak was chosen first overall in the 2016 MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.
