Matt Vierling is an American professional baseball outfielder and first baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Vierling joined the Phillies playing squad after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.
He was sent to the Williamsport Crosscutters, a short-season team. Vierling was promoted to the Class A Lakewood Blue Claws after hitting.420 in 12 games.
He spent the 2019 season with the Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League’s Class A-Advanced division.
Vierling did not appear in a game in 2020 since the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Vierling got promoted to the major leagues for the first time after being named to the 40-man roster.
As a pinch hitter, he made his Major League debut that day, hitting a single to right field in his first at-bat against San Francisco Giants reliever Jarlin Garcia while also stealing second base and scoring a run.
On September 25, 2021, in a 3-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, he blasted his first Major League home run.

Matt Vierling was born alongside his brother Mark Vierling. Growing up, Matt and Mark played varsity baseball for Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis for one season in 2015.
During that time, Matt led the Cadets to the Class 5 Missouri state high school baseball championship.
Mark maintained his position at the second base whereas Matt was moved from his usual positions of outfielder and pitcher to shortstop.
