Easter as we all know is a celebration used to commemorate the death of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Good Friday is an embodiment of Easter and it usually comes before Easter itself. Good Friday is annually observed to commemorate the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
When Christianity first began, and during the days of our Lord and Savior, Good Friday was used to commemorate acts of sorrow, penance as well as fasting. The German word Karfreitag which means “Sorrowful Friday” characterizes the expression.
The Gospel according to Matthew, Mark, and Luke spells out the indicative assertions of the Christian tradition that recounts Jesus’s last meal with his disciples on the evening before his crucifixion. It was a Passover seder at that time. The indications reveal that he probably died on 15 Nissan according to the Jewish calendar or on the first day of Passover.
Although the exact death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ remains a mystery, there are hovering remarks that associate it with the fact that Good Friday was established on a Friday or near the Passover in those days. Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was a great atonement according to the Bible and then he rose on the third day to go back to his heavenly Father.
