27-year-old Bryan Garcia is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. He was born on April 19, 1995. He debuted in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Tigers in 2019.
Garcia attended Christopher Columbus High School, also known as the ‘Lawn Mower’, in Miami, Florida, where he was a starting pitcher for the baseball team.
He has an 8–1 win-loss record with a 1.23 earned run average as a senior in 2013. (ERA). Garcia was taken by the Detroit Tigers in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB draft, with the 175th overall pick.
He signed with the Tigers and made his professional debut with the Connecticut Tigers of the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League, before being promoted to the Class A Midwest League’s West Michigan Whitecaps, where he went 0–2 with a 2.41 ERA in 18.2 innings.
Garcia started the 2020 season as a reliever with the Tigers. On September 6, 2020, he made his major league debut against the Minnesota Twins.
Garcia pitched in 26 games during the 2020 season, with a 1.66 ERA, a 2–1 record, four saves, and 12 strikeouts in 213 innings. The Detroit Sports Media Association named Garcia the Rookie of the Year for the 2020 Detroit Tigers.
