Bryan Garcia is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). As a member of the Tigers, he made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 2019.
Garcia went to Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Florida, where he began throwing for the school’s baseball team in his sophomore year.
In 2013, he went 8–1 with a 1.23 earned run average (ERA). He was not chosen by Major League Baseball in 2013 and instead enrolled at the University of Miami, where he competed for the Miami Hurricanes baseball team.
In his professional career, he set the Miami saves record (18) and was named the NCBWA Stopper of the Year in 2016.
Garcia was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the sixth round (175th overall) of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft.
The Tigers signed him, and he began his professional career as a reliever with the Connecticut Tigers in the Class A/Short Season New York-Penn League before being promoted to the Western Michigan Whitecaps of the Class A/Midwestern League.
His previous professional experience includes time with the Lakeland Flying Tigers, Erie Seawolves (AA Eastern League), and Toledo Mud Hens, in addition to West Michigan (AA International League).
Garcia appeared in 52 games for the four teams and posted a 5–3 record, 2.13 earned run average, and 1.05 earned run average (WHIP).
