Casey Mize is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers picked him with the first overall choice in the 2018 MLB draft.
He started his professional baseball career with the GCL Tigers. He was also a part of the Auburn Tigers high school baseball team.
In addition, as a first-year recruit in 2016, he played in 16 games. He participated in 13 games as a sophomore in 2017, making 12 starts, and was 8-2 with a 2.04 ERA and 109 strikeouts.
Mize was promoted to the major leagues by the Tigers on August 19, 2020, and made his debut that night against the Chicago White Sox. In his debut start, Mize pitched 73 pitches over 4+13 innings, giving three earned runs while striking out seven and walking none in a no-decision.
Casey Mize is currently married to his long-term lover, Tali Milde. Tali and Casey originally met at Auburn University, where they were both members of the athletic teams. Milde played softball, and Casey played baseball.
The pair fell in love and began dating soon after. After a few years, they exchanged wedding vows in 2019 and began a happy life together.
