Baseball pitcher Elvin Miguel Rodrguez is from the Dominican Republic and plays for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball’s National League (MLB). In 2022, he made his Major League Baseball debut.
On July 4, 2014, Rodrguez signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels as an international free agent.
The DSL Angels were where he had his professional debut season in 2015 when he went 0–6 with a 4.59 ERA in 51 innings.
He spent the 2016 season splitting time between the DSL and the AZL Angels, finishing 4–2 with a 1.53 ERA in 58+2/3 innings over the course of the season.
Elvin Rodriguez divided the 2017 season between the Orem Owlz and the Burlington Bees, going 5–3 with a 2.91 ERA in 68 innings pitched for a total of two teams. He was named the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Year for his outstanding performance.
With the West Michigan Whitecaps in 2018, Rodrguez had an 8–7 record and a 3.34 ERA in 112+1/3 innings. As part of the Justin Upton deal, he was moved to Detroit Tigers on September 15, 2017.
Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Minor League Baseball season was cancelled in 2020. Elvin Rodriguez was named to the Tigers’ 2022 season-opening roster.
