Tucker Barnhart is an American professional baseball catcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB).
He has previously played in MLB for the Cincinnati Reds. He made his MLB debut in 2014 and won the Gold Glove Award in 2017 and 2020.
In the city of Indianapolis, Barnhart was born. His parents, Kevin and Pam Barnhart are his siblings, and Paige is his sister. When Tucker was 11 years old, his family relocated to Brownsburg, Indiana, which is located west of Indianapolis.
He was on the Brownsburg High School baseball team while he was there and he attended that school.
In 2008, he was a junior and had a batting average of.500, which earned him a spot on the Louisville Slugger High School All-American team.
He earned the title of “Mr. Baseball” for the state of Indiana during his senior year at Brownsburg High School.
Before beginning his senior year of high school, Barnhart made the decision to accept a baseball scholarship to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology and play for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
