José Miguel Cabrera Torres, known as “Miggy,” is a Venezuelan professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB).
He has been a two-time American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP), a four-time AL hitting champion, and an 11-time MLB All-Star since his debut in 2003.
He spent most of his major league career at first and third base, but before 2006, he mostly played left and right field. In 2012, he became the first player in 45 years to win the 17th MLB Triple Crown.
Cabrera became the second Tigers player to hit 350 home runs and 2,000 hits with the franchise, behind Al Kaline, on April 1, 2021, with a home run in his first at-bat of the 2021 season. Cabrera was put on the 10-day disabled list on April 11 due to a left biceps injury.
Many Tigers fans will recall Cabrera being placed on the disabled list in 2016. To stay in Detroit, he signed an eight-year, $248 million contract. Cabrera was paid an average yearly salary of $30 million under this deal.
Miguel Cabrera will be paid a base salary of $32,000,000 in 2022, as well as a total pay of $32,000,000. He has a net worth of $125 million as a Venezuelan professional baseball player.
