Ralf Rangnick is a very popular German professional football manager and former player who has been the interim manager of Premier League club Manchester United since 2021. Ralf was born in Germany on June 29, 1958.
He was raised in Backnang in Germany by Dietrich and Erika Rangnick who happens to be his parents. Ralf started playing football at VfB Stuttgart where he was recognised for his talents and was added as player-coach.
He is a graduate of the University of Sussex where he played football for a while. He then began his coaching career in the 1980s,l where he was first employed as a player-coach at his hometown club Viktoria Backnang and then later as a coach at VfB Stuttgart II and TSV Lippoldsweiler.
Ralf was made head coach at SC Korb in 1988. In 1991, his team won the U-19 Bundesliga which was the highest honour in German U-19 football at that time. He then returned to first-team management in 1995 with two seasons as head coach at SSV Reutlingen.
In June 2012, Ralf was made the director of football for both Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig. With him handling RB Leipzig, the team saw the promotion from the regional league to the Bundesliga. The team was also able to reach the UEFA Champions League.
