Austin Meadows is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays.
In 2016, Meadows damaged his right eye’s orbital bone during spring training.
In June, he was promoted to the Class AAA International League’s Indianapolis Indians from Altoona, where he had previously played.
It was in 45 games for Altoona and 37 games for Indianapolis that he smashed six home runs and 34 RBIs, with a combined.214 batting average.
Meadows was invited to spring training by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017. For the 2017 season, Meadows returned to the Indianapolis Colts and hit.250 with four home runs and 36 RBIs in 72 contests.
Due to hamstring and oblique issues, he was out for over two months of the season. After the 2017 season, the Pirates included him on their 40-man roster.
Prior to the 2018 season, MLB.com ranked Meadows as Pittsburgh’s second-best prospect. On May 18, he made his major league debut after starting the season with Indianapolis.
On the same night, he recorded his first major league hit and his first stolen base.
