Víctor José Reyes was born on October 5, 1994. He is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder with the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball. He is 6 feet 5 inches tall.
The Braves traded Reyes to the Arizona Diamondbacks for the 75th overall pick in the 2015 MLB draft in April 2015. Reyes was assigned to the Kane County Cougars by Arizona and played the whole season there, slashing.311/.343/.389 in 121 games with two home runs and 59 RBIs.
In 2016, he batted.303 with six home runs and 54 RBIs in 124 games for the Visalia Rawhide, and in 2017, he batted.292 with four home runs, 51 RBIs, 29 doubles, 59 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases for the Jackson Generals.
He played with the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League after the 2017 season, hitting.316 with eight runs and was named to the Arizona Fall League’s Rising Stars Team.
Reyes was named to the Tigers’ opening-day roster in 2021. After hitting.143 in 63 at-bats, he was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on May 8. On May 24, Reyes was recalled to the MLB roster.
Reyes became the first MLB player to smash a pinch-hit inside-the-park home run since Tyler Saladino on May 14, 2018, and the first Tigers player since Ben Oglivie on June 2, 1976, on August 27, 2021. Reyes hit.258 with 5 home runs in 76 games in the major leagues in 2021.
