Dylan File, who graduated from Desert Hills in 2014, attended Dixie State University until his junior year, when he was taken in the 21st round of the 2017 first-year players draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.
Since then, File has pitched for four Brewers teams. In 2018, he threw for the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers after pitching for the Pioneer League’s Helena Brewers in 2017.
He started 12 games in Class A Advanced Carolina League for the Carolina Mudcats earlier this season.
File was chosen to play in the Carolina League’s all-star game, but was called up to Biloxi shortly after.
Susan Larson of St. George, File’s mother, remembers her son calling to tell her about his promotion during the Mudcats’ 7-3 victory over the Salem Red Sox on June 8.
File has been on scout Jeff Scholzen’s radar since he relocated from Kingman, Arizona, to the St. George area when he was 12 years old, according to the scout.
“I scouted him in high school when there was only myself and maybe a couple of other guys who really knew about Dylan in high school, despite the fact that Dylan flat out crushed his senior year, winning Region 9 MVP and producing unfathomable strikeout figures,” Scholzen said.
“I believe he committed to Dixie State when he was a sophomore, and they did a fantastic job of keeping him away from the other Division I colleges.”
How Much Does Dylan File Make?
Dylan File makes an annual salary of $570,500.
