Hoby Trey Milner plays professional baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was born on January 13, 1991, in Fort Worth, Texas in the USA. He played high school with R. L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas. After high school, he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 2009 MLB draft but he did not sign with them.
Hoby enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin, where he played college baseball for the school’s baseball team. He was drafted out of college by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 7th round of the 2012 MLB draft. He signed with the Phillies and made his professional debut in 2012 playing with the Low-A Williamsport Crosscutters, and also the Single-A Lakewood Blue Claws.
During the 2013 minor league season, he was with the High-A Clearwater Threshers and he spent the 2014 season with the Double-A with the Reading Fightin Phils. The Cleveland Indians selected him in the 2016 Rule 5 draft but returned him to the Phillies in March 2017.
Hoby was called up to the majors by the Phillies in June 2017. He made his MLB debut on June 24 that year for the Phillies after they played against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was traded the following year to the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations.
In December 2020, the Milwaukee Brewers and Hoby agreed on a minor league contract and he signed with them.
