Michael Neil Kay is a New York Yankees television play-by-play commentator and the host of Centerstage on the YES Network, as well as the host of The Michael Kay Show on WEPN-FM in New York City and ESPN Xtra on XM Satellite Radio.
Michael Kay is the nephew of actor Danny Aiello and was born in the Bronx, New York. Kay wore number 1 in Little League for his favorite player, Bobby Murcer because he was a big Yankees fan.

Kay began his professional career as a general assignment writer for the New York Post in 1982, progressing to sports-specific assignments for college basketball, the National Basketball Association, and the New Jersey Nets over time.
In 1987, he was assigned to cover the Yankees as a beat writer.
Kay departed the Post for the Daily News in 1989, continuing to focus on the Yankees. Starting in 1989, Kay also worked as a Yankee reporter for the Madison Square Garden Network.
He worked as a locker room reporter for the New York Knicks for MSG from 1992 until 1999. He previously worked for the network as a contributor on MSG SportsDesk, a news-format sports show.
Kay left the Daily News in 1992 to host a sports talk program on WABC, then returned in 1993 to write “Kay’s Korner” for the Daily News before joining John Sterling on the microphone for radio broadcasts of New York Yankee games. In the late 1990s, Kay also served as a reporter for Fox Sports Net.
