Victor Manuel Caratini (born August 17, 1993) is a Puerto Rican Major League Baseball catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers (MLB).
He previously spent time with the Chicago Cubs and the San Diego Padres. He was dubbed “The Scientist” after catching Joe Musgrove’s no-hitter. He throws right-handed and is a switch hitter, standing 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) and weighing 215 pounds (98 kg).
Caratini and Yu Darvish were traded to the San Diego Padres on December 29, 2020, in exchange for pitcher Zach Davies, Reginald Preciado, Yeison Santana, Ismael Mena, and Owen Caissie.
Caratini caught a no-hitter for teammate Joe Musgrove against the Texas Rangers on April 9, 2021, the first no-hitter in Padres history and the second no-hitter he has caught in eight months.
There had not been a no-hitter in MLB since Caratini had caught one with the Cubs, which made Caratini the first catcher in MLB history to catch consecutive no-hitters for two different teams.
Victor Caratini, a Puerto Rican baseball catcher, is presently married to Janise Caratini, a Latina. At the present, the couple does not have any children.
