Victor Manuel Caratini is a professional baseball catcher from Puerto Rico who currently plays for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball. He was previously with the Chicago Cubs and the San Diego Padres.
Caratini was traded to the Chicago Cubs on July 31 for Emilio Bonifacio and James Russell. He was assigned to the Kane County Cougars by the Cubs for the remainder of the season.
Caratini batted .257 with four home runs and 53 RBIs for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2015. He hit .291 with six home runs and 47 runs batted in for the Tennessee Smokies in 2016.
Caratini played with the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League after the 2016 season and was added to the Cubs 40-man roster.
Caratini started the 2017 season with the Class AAA Iowa Cubs. On June 28, 2017, the Cubs called Caratini up to the big leagues.
He batted .254 with one home run and two RBIs in 31 games with the 2017 Cubs. Caratini hit.232 with two home runs and 21 RBIs in 76 MLB games last season.
He pitched in two games this season, both in late July, surrendering two runs over two innings for a 9.00 ERA.
He also appeared in the 2018 National League Wild Card Game, pinch-hitting and grounded out as the Cubs lost 2–1 in 13 innings to the Colorado Rockies.
