Pablo Reyes With The Brewers
Reyes signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on January 7, 2021. Reyes was added to the active roster on April 26, 2021.
The Brewers have picked utility player Pablo Reyes’ contract and optioned outfielder Corey Ray, according to the team.
Reyes was a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2012 to 2016, before joining the Brewers on a minor league deal this offseason.
Reyes’ 2020 season was canceled due to an 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, but he played in the major leagues in each of the previous two seasons.
The 27-year-old had a strong debut in 2018, with 63 plate appearances, but his output fell the next season across a considerably larger sample size (157 PA).
In 220 at-bats at the major league level, Reyes has a .229/.295/.368 batting line with five home homers.
Reyes has played middle infield, third base, and all three outfield positions in the majors on defense. Even if Reyes doesn’t hit well, he’ll be a defensively versatile option off the bench for the Brewers.
During his most recent stint in the big leagues with the Brewers, Reyes participated in six games and had five plate appearances, drawing two walks. In 55 plate appearances this season, he’s hit .212/.255/.250.
On June 16th, the Brewers claimed Weber off waivers from the Red Sox, but he only stayed with the team for a month.
He only appeared in one MLB game, pitching a scoreless inning of relief. Weber pitched 8.0 innings in two starts for Triple-A Nashville, surrendering six earned runs.
When Kyle Lobstein was acquired from the Nationals four days earlier, he was designated for assignment.
