Roansy Contreras is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Contreras joined the Yankees as an international free agent in 2016, and he made his MLB debut in 2021.
He pitched for the DSL Yankees and the GCL Yankees in his professional debut season of 2017, finishing 4–4 with a 4.02 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 53+23 innings.
Contreras pitched for the Staten Island Yankees and the Charleston RiverDogs during the 2018 season, finishing 0–2 with a 2.42 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 63+13 innings.
In 2019, he returned to Charleston and went 12–5 with a 3.33 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 132+13 innings.
He did not play in 2020 since the Minor League Baseball season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the 2020 season, the Yankees added him to their 40-man roster.
Contreras, Miguel Yajure, Maikol Escotto, and Canaan Smith were traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Jameson Taillon on January 24, 2021.

He pitched for the Altoona Curve and the Indianapolis Indians in the minor leagues in 2021, going 3–2 with a 2.64 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 58 innings.
