Christopher Lee Stratton is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB).
He formerly played for the Los Angeles Angels and the San Francisco Giants. Stratton attended Mississippi State University from 2010 to 2012 after graduating from Tupelo High School.
He played collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Harwich Mariners in 2011. He was a consensus All-American as a senior after finishing 11–2 with a 2.38 ERA and 127 strikeouts.
In addition, he was named SEC Pitcher of the Year. He was also named Mississippi’s top collegiate baseball player, winning the C Spire Ferriss Trophy.
Stratton was picked first overall by the Giants in 2012. In August, a line drive hit him in the head. The Los Angeles Angels traded for Stratton on March 26.
On May 7, 2019, he was assigned. On May 11, 2019, Stratton was sent to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash. Stratton has a 3.66 ERA, 9.1 K/9, and 1.39 WHIP in 46+23 innings with the Pirates.
In 2020, Stratton had a 3.90 ERA, 39 strikeouts, and a career-high 11.9 K/9. Stratton led the Pirates with seven victories and a 3.63 ERA in 79+3 innings in 2021.
