Matt Moore is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has played in MLB for the Tampa Bay Rays, San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies.

At the end of his first three starts as a major leaguer, Moore surrendered a two-run home run to Matt Wieters in the eighth inning of the Rays’ 6–2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles in September 11, 2011.

On September 22, he became the first pitcher in MLB history to record 11 strikeouts in fewer than five innings in his maiden major league start against the New York Yankees. The Rays won the game 15–8.

Game 1 of the 2011 ALDS between the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays was Moore’s start, as he pitched seven scoreless innings in a 9–0 win for the Rays.

First-year major-league pitcher Moore had a record of 1–0 with a 2.89 earned run average (ERA) in 9+1/3 innings. A guaranteed $14 million, five-year contract with the Rays was signed by Moore on December 9th, 2011.

As part of a Rays organization pattern, he signed a long-term contract that was the largest ever for a pitcher with less than two years of service time, both in terms of guaranteed dollars and prospective earnings.

A daughter, Aubrey, was born to Tara and Chris in 2011. Exactly two years later, Tara gave birth to her second child, a boy called Matt Jr., in November 2013.

It was in the middle of the NFL season that Tara gave birth to Wyatt, their second son and third child, on December 12, 2016.
