Mitchell Lynn Garver is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Texas Rangers in the United States. He formerly played for the Minnesota Twins in Major League Baseball.
Garver was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Gail and Jerry Garver on January 15, 1991. He caught for the baseball team at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque.
Garver was also a standout center back for his high school soccer team, and his coach recommended that he relocate to the United Kingdom to continue his soccer career at a European academy.
Garver, a baseball fan, was “terrified” by the possibility and declined the offer.
In 2008, as a junior, he was a member of the soccer team that won the state title and the baseball team that finished second in the state championship.
Garver was selected Male Athlete of the Year by the Albuquerque Public Schools when he graduated in 2009. As a senior, he batted .521 with 10 home runs.
Garver was a member of the University of New Mexico baseball team. In 2012, he was selected a league all-star while playing collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
