Texans Rangers infielder Andy Ibáez Velázquez is a Cuban professional baseball player who was born and raised in Havana, Cuba (MLB). 2021 was the year he made his MLB debut.
During the 2013 World Baseball Classic, Ibáez competed for the Cuban national baseball team. In the Cuban National Series, he represented Isla de la Juventud.
On November 1, 2014, he emigrated from Cuba in order to seek a career in MLB. On July 7, 2015, he signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers.
Hickory Crawdad and Frisco RoughRiders were both Ibáez’s first professional teams, and he appeared in 130 games between the two organizations, hitting 285 with 13 home runs, 66 RBIs, 15 stolen bases, and an.804 OPS in 2016.
There were eight home runs and 29 RBIs in 82 games for him in Frisco last year, after returning to the team for the entire season in 2017.
A finger injury cost him six weeks of the season. Ibáez played for the Round Rock Express of the Pacific Coast League in 2018.

Ibáez was invited to the 2019 MLB spring training. In 2019, Ibáez hurt his right oblique during spring training and returned to the Nashville Sounds on April 6.
He hit.300/.371/.497/.868 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI in 2019. Ibáez missed the 2020 season owing to the COVID-19 epidemic.
