Keller was a member of the Falcons baseball team at Flowery Branch High School in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The Arizona Diamondbacks selected him in the eighth round of the 2013 MLB draft.
He had signed a letter of intent to play collegiate baseball at Presbyterian College, but instead elected to sign with the Diamondbacks.
Keller debuted professionally with the Arizona League Diamondbacks that year, and was later promoted to the Missoula Osprey.
He was 7–3 with a 2.44 ERA in 15 games (13 starts). He was 6–4 with a 4.31 ERA in 15 games for the Arizona League Diamondbacks, Missoula, and Hillsboro Hops in 2014.
Keller pitched for the Kane County Cougars in 2015, going 8–9 with a 2.60 ERA in 26 games (25 starts), the Visalia Rawhide in 2016, going 9–7 with a 4.47 ERA in 24 starts, and the Jackson Generals in 2017, going 10–9 with a 4.68 ERA in 26 starts.
Keller was taken in the Rule 5 draft by the Cincinnati Reds on December 14, 2017, and was promptly transferred to the Kansas City Royals for monetary considerations.
Keller was named to the Royals’ 25-man roster in 2018 and made his MLB debut on Opening Day, March 29, pitching a scoreless inning of relief against the Chicago White Sox, striking out the first player he faced, Adam Engel.
He pitched in both the bullpen and the rotation, leading the team in ERA (3.08) and victories (tied for first) (9). In 140+ innings, he struck out 96 batters.
