Daniel A. Lynch is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Kansas City Royals (MLB). In 2021, he made his MLB debut.
Lynch attended Douglas S. Freeman High School in Henrico. He had a 0.97 ERA as a junior. He attended the University of Virginia and played baseball for the Virginia Cavaliers.
He started nine games and went 1–3 with a 5.49 ERA and 37 strikeouts in his first year at Virginia. He made 14 starts as a sophomore, finishing 7–5 with a 5.00 ERA and 45 Ks.
In 2017, he pitched for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod League, where he went 4–0 with a 2.04 ERA and 25 strikeouts and was an all-star.
Lynch was 4–4 with a 3.96 ERA and 105 strikeouts in 13 starts as a junior. Following the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore selected Lynch 34th overall,
selecting him from Virginia Tech. Rookie Appalachian League’s Burlington Royals were his first professional stop.
In 2019, he played for the Class A-Advanced Carolina League’s Wilmington Blue Rocks, where he was named an All-Star.
By virtue of the COVID-19 epidemic, he was unable to participate in the lower leagues in 2020.
