Angel David Zerpa is a Venezuelan baseball pitcher who pitches for the Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball (MLB). In 2021, he made his MLB debut.
In 2016, Zerpa signed as an international free agent with the Kansas City Royals for a $100,000 signing bonus.
Zerpa debuted professionally with the Dominican Summer League Royals in 2017, finishing 3–4 with a 1.84 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 63+23 innings.
He pitched for the Arizona League Royals in 2018 and went 3–6 with a 3.88 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 48+23 innings.
Zerpa pitched for the Burlington Royals and the Idaho Falls Chukars in 2019, going 6–3 with a 3.40 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 55+13 innings.
He did not play in 2020 since the Minor League Baseball season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
Zerpa will join Royal’s 40-man roster on November 20, 2020. [5] He pitched in the minors for three different teams in 2021, going 4–4 with a 4.58 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 88 innings for the Quad Cities River Bandits, Northwest Arkansas Naturals, and Omaha Storm Chasers.
Zerpa will make his Major League Baseball debut on September 30th, 2021, against the Cleveland Indians, after being called up to the active roster earlier in the day.
