Robert Andrew Witt Jr. (born June 14, 2000) is an American professional baseball shortstop and third baseman for the Major League Baseball Kansas City Royal. He is 6 feet 1 inch tall.
The Royals selected him second overall in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. Witt received his high school diploma from Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, Texas.
He signed a letter of intent to play collegiate baseball at the University of Oklahoma. In 2018, he batted.446 with 10 home runs as a junior. That July, he won the Nationals Park High School Home Run Derby.
Witt was regarded as one of the best prospects available in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. He was taken as the second overall pick by the Kansas City Royals.
He signed for $7.79 million and debuted with the Rookie-level Arizona League Royals. He batted.262/.317/.354 in 37 games, with one home run, 27 RBIs, and nine stolen bases.
Witt did not participate in a minor league game in 2020 because the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. He was assigned to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the Double-A Central to begin the 2021 season.
