Edward Olivares was born on March 6, 1996, he is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the San Diego Padres.
On August 29, 2020, the Padres traded Olivares and a player to be named later to the Kansas City Royals, in exchange for relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal. Overall with the 2020 Kansas City Royals, Olivares batted .274 with two home runs and 7 RBIs in 18 games.
Olivares began the 2021 season in Triple-A with the Omaha Storm Chasers. He was shuttled back and forth between Triple-A and the Royals throughout the season.
On June 14, he was recalled to Kansas City. On June 17, he was sent back down to Omaha. On June 30, he was again recalled to Kansas City. On July 4, the club returned him to Omaha.
On July 31, he was called up to Kansas City. On August 10, he was demoted to Omaha. On August 27, he was promoted to Kansas City. On September 17, he was sent back to Omaha.
On September 20, he returned to Kansas City for the seventh time in 2021. On September 21, he was returned to Omaha for his eighth stint in Triple-A in 2021.
