ICC Women’s Player of the Month for April 2022

The ICC Player of the Month nominees have been unveiled for April 2022 with  contenders getting recognized for their great achievements.

Two stars from the showpiece finale of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in New Zealand, Alyssa Healy (Australia) and Nat Sciver (New Zealand), have been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month.

They’re up for the award alongside Janet Mbabazi (Uganda), who shone after dominating the Capricorn Women’s Tri-series in Namibia.

Alyssa Healy (Australia)

Thanks to her magnificent innings of 170 against England in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Final, Alyssa Healy has received her second nomination for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award.

This incredible show of power and control helped her set a new record for the highest score ever scored in a World Cup Final, and was the catalyst for Australia’s seventh ODI title.

After being named ICC Women’s Player of the Month for the second time in April 2021, a win here would make her the second player to win the accolade on two occasions.

Janet Mbabazi (Uganda)

Janet Mbabazi had a fantastic month with the bat and the ball. She claimed 11 wickets at an incredible average of 7.81 in six T20Is for her country in the Capricorn Women’s Tri-Series, while also scoring 118 runs to become her team’s highest run-scorer and the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.

She is the first Ugandan to be named to the ICC Player of the Month shortlist.

Nat Sciver (England)

Nat Sciver’s scorching 148* in Christchurch, in reaction to Healy’s heroics in the first innings of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final 2022, was important in getting England back into contention.

Despite seeing her teammates fall at regular intervals, Sciver had a truly spectacular inning, hitting 15 fours and one maximum at a strike rate of 122.31 as her team fell short in the final.

She was nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for the second time, the first time being in February 2021.
