Aaron James Civale is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Cleveland Guardians.
Civale was born in East Windsor, Connecticut, and attended Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut, before attending Northeastern University to play baseball.
After going 9-3 with a 1.73 ERA for the Huskies, he was named Co-Pitcher of the Year in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Civale pitched an exhibition game against the Red Sox at JetBlue Park in Florida while playing for the Huskies. He was a relief pitcher for the Huskies for two years prior to this start.
He was a league all-star and awarded the Outstanding New England Prospect award while playing collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2015.
The Cleveland Indians selected him in the third round of the 2016 MLB draft.
Civale signed with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and pitched 13 innings for them in 2016, going 0–2 with a 1.67 ERA and 0.82 WHIP.
He pitched for the Lake County Captains and Lynchburg Hillcats in 2017, going 13–6 with a 3.28 ERA in 27 total starts between the two clubs, and for the Akron RubberDucks in 2018, he went 5-7 with a 3.89 ERA in 21 starts.
To start 2019, he returned to Akron. The Columbus Clippers promoted Civale on June 6. Prior to getting called up, he went 5–0 with a 2.85 ERA in seven starts between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus.
