Joshua-Douglas James Naylor is a Canadian professional baseball first baseman and outfielder who currently plays for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball.
Naylor was born on June 22, 1997. Earlier in his career, he was a player with the San Diego Padres. In the Major League Baseball first-year player draft in 2015, the Padres selected Naylor for the 12th overall spot.
Naylor made his debut in the MLB in 2019. During the 2020 campaign, he was shipped off to Cleveland in a trade.
St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary School was located in Mississauga, Ontario, and Naylor went there. At the age of 15, he was selected to play baseball for the Canadian junior national team.
Both the Perfect Game All-American Classic and the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game was held in 2014, with the former taking place at Petco Park and the latter taking place at Wrigley Field.
Baseball scouting service Perfect Game placed Naylor in the top 50 of the eligible prospects for the Major League Baseball Draft in 2015.
On May 9, 2022, against the Chicago White Sox, Naylor hit two three-run home runs or grand slams in the same game. He was the only player since 1920 to have at least eight RBIs in the eighth inning or later.
