Bryan Kristopher Harvey is a baseball pitcher for a professional team in the United States. He was born on January 5, 1984, in Catawba, North Carolina.
He is the brother of major league pitcher Hunter Harvey and the son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Bryan Harvey. His father pitched in the league.
Before beginning his career as a professional musician, Harvey was a student at Bandys High School. The Atlanta Braves selected him in the fifth round of the amateur draft in 2002, but he chose not to sign with them.
He had just graduated from high school. He received his education at Clemson University. Harvey had a batting average of.276 in 29 at-bats during his freshman season at Clemson in 2003.
The next year, he played in 54 games and had a batting average of.335, along with eight home runs and 41 RBI. Following the conclusion of the 2004 campaign, he participated in summer collegiate baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
In 2005, he played in 64 games and had a batting average of.339, with 24 home runs and 69 RBI. Matt Harvey was selected by the Florida Marlins in 2005.
He pitched for the Jupiter Hammerheads, Jamestown Jammers, Greensboro Grasshoppers, and Carolina Mudcats. After 2009, he was added to the 40-man roster to avoid the Rule 5 Draft.
