Seth Daniel Romero is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball. Romero was born on April 19, 1996, in the United States.
After playing college baseball for the University of Houston Cougars, the Nationals selected him in the first round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. He is now playing for the Washington Nationals.
Romero was not selected right out of high school, so he went to the University of Houston, where he was a member of the baseball team for the Cougars.
Romero made 22 appearances for Houston as a freshman in 2015 and started eight of those games. He finished the year with a 7–4 record, a 1.94 earned run average, 92 strikeouts, and seven saves. Before beginning his sophomore year in 2016,
he was handed an indefinite suspension for “behaviour harmful to the team,” which was interpreted by various media sources as a lack of proper physical training.
He was not in good physical shape. Romero was given a second suspension by the team in April 2017 after he failed a drug test, missed his curfew and was photographed while in uniform using a bong.
In May, he was reinstated, although he was only allowed to participate in two games before he was kicked out of the squad.
