Mason Lane Thompson is a baseball pitcher who was traded from the Padres to the Washington Nationals last year July 30, 2021.
He was traded along with Jordy Barley in exchange for Daniel Hudson. Thompson was initially drafted by the Padres with the 85th overall pick in the 2016 first-player draft after he completed high school.
Mason Thompson was born on February,20,1998, and is currently 24 years old. He got his high school education at the Round Rock High School in Round Rock, Texas. As a junior, Thomson had undergone Tommy John surgery and had the chance to pitch only one inning as a senior.
He made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres and has played there till his trading last year. He was often used as a starting pitcher 48 times in his first 54 games in the Padres.
In June 2021, Thompson was signed to the major league for the first time in his career and made his MLB professional debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Thompson was placed on a 10-day injured list to the 60-day on Tuesday two weeks ago May,10,2022 after suffering from biceps tendinitis.
Thompson however has not yet taken any steps for his recovery and has been removed for a month by the Nationals. He has been replaced by right-handed reliever Carl Edwards.
