His father played for the Eastern Illinois Panthers at Eastern Illinois University and for HCAW in Bussum, the Netherlands, and later became a sports agent.
During the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, the Washington Nationals chose Kieboom in the fifth round. With Auburn Doubleday in Class A Short Season New York-Penn League in 2012, he batted.258 and had 20 RBIs in 41 games.
