Yusei Kikuchi is a professional baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jay of the Major League Baseball (MLB). Kikuchi was born on June 17, 1991, and is currently 30 years of age.
He made his professional debut for the Saitama Seibu Lions of the NPB on June 12, 2011, and made his MLB professional debut with the Seattle Mariners on March,21,2019.
Kikuchi, as a high school pitcher made headlines in October 2009, after his decision to reject the NPB offers and wanted to sign with American teams. The young player became a hot cake as teams including the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox were interested in him aside from the 12 teams in the NPB.
On March,14,2022, Kikuchi was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays with a three-year contract worth $36 million. He had previously played for teams Saitama Seibu Lions(2009, Melbourne Aces (2011), and the Seattle Mariners (2019) during his career.
