Trevor Michael Richards is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball. Richards was born on May 15, 1993.
In the past, he has been a member of the Miami Marlins, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2018, he made his first appearance with the Marlins.
Richards was 9-1 with a 1.07 ERA as a senior at Mater Dei High School in Breese, Illinois. He attended Drury University after high school and played collegiate baseball.
Not selected by a major league baseball team in the 2015 MLB draft, he signed with the Frontier League’s Gateway Grizzlies. With a 12–11 record, a 2.53 ERA, and 158 strikeouts in 27 games (25 starts), he was awarded the Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the Miami Marlins in 2017.
The Miami Marlins promoted Richards to the major leagues on April 2, 2018, and he made his MLB debut that day.
Richards and Nick Anderson were dealt to the Rays on July 31 for Jess Sánchez and Ryne Stanek. Richards was 3-0 with a 3.20 ERA in 19+23 innings before being moved.
The Rays traded Richards and Willy Adams to the Brewers on May 21, 2021. The Brewers traded Richards and Bowden Francis for Rowdy Tellez on July 6, 2011.
