Trent Edward Thornton is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. Thornton was born on September 30, 1993. (MLB).
After completing his high school education at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, Thornton went on to play collegiate baseball for the North Carolina Tar Heels while attending the University of North Carolina.
As a rookie, he pitched in 29 games and posted a record of 12–1 with an earned run average of 1.37. As a sophomore, he pitched in 16 games and made 14 starts, with a record of 7–4 with an earned run average of 2.73.
During the summer of 2014, he was a member of the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he played collegiate baseball.
As a junior, he had a record of 3–7 with a 5.08 earned run average over 28 appearances (four of which were starts). Following the completion of his junior year,
he was chosen by the Houston Astros in the fifth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, and he subsequently signed.
