Trent Edward Thornton is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Thornton played college baseball for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels after graduating from Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He finished 12–1 with a 1.37 ERA in 29 games as a freshman, then 7–4 with a 2.73 ERA in 16 games as a sophomore, including 14 starts.
He was a member of the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League in the summer of 2014. In 28 appearances as a junior, he went 3–7 with a 5.08 ERA (four of which were starts).
He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft by the Houston Astros, and he signed with them after his junior year.
