Trent Edward Thornton is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.
Thornton was born on September 30, 1993. (MLB). After finishing high school at Ardrey Kell in Charlotte, North Carolina, I moved to New York City.
The Houston Astros selected Trent Edward Thornton in the fifth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, and he subsequently signed with the team.
Thornton excelled in baseball during his time as a college student with the North Carolina Tar Heels, where he led the team to a record of 12-1 as a freshman and 7-4 as a sophomore.
He was a member of the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League during the summer of 2014 when he played collegiate baseball.
Thornton made his debut in the professional ranks in 2015 with the Tri-City Valley Cats of the Short Season of the American Association.
During the 2016 and 2017 seasons, he was a member of the Advanced-A Lancaster JetHawks and the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks.
In 2018, he was a member of the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies. After pitching 72 innings without allowing a single run, he was recognized as the best pitcher in the Pacific Coast League for the week of June 11–17.
Thornton was sent to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Aledmys Daz in a transaction that took place in November of 2018.
