Born on February 6, 1995, Zachary Allen Collins popularly known as ‘Zack Collins ‘is an American professional baseball catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. He previously played for the Chicago White Sox and made his MLB debut on June 19 2019 at the team where he played number 38.
Collins attended the American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida. There at high school, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 27th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft but he refused the offer and did not sign. He later enrolled at the University of Miami where he played college baseball for the Miami Hurricanes.
Collins began his career when he was drafted in the 10th overall in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Chicago White Sox. After signing the contract he made his professional debut with the Arizona League White Sox and was promoted to the Winston-Salem just after three games. Collins ended 2016 with a combined .244 batting average with six home runs and 18 RBIs in 39 games between both teams.
He spent 2017 with both Winston Salem and Birmingham Barons posting a combined .224 batting average with 19 home runs and 53 RBIs in 113 games in total between the two clubs. In 2019, Collins began the season with the Charlotte Knights where he played the number 8.
Collins was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Reese McGuire on April 3, 2022, where currently he plays the number 21.
