Vladimir Guerrero Jr is a Canadian-Dominican professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB).
When the 2021 MLB season got underway, Guerrero was a large amount lighter than he had been the prior two seasons. In July 2020, Guerrero began a weight-loss plan and lost 42 pounds. He felt quicker, stronger, and more resilient as a result of his weight loss.
During the 2021 season, Guerrero served as the Blue Jays primary first baseman while also making regular appearances as a designated hitter.
A grand slam and seven RBIs were part of Guerrero’s first career three-homer game on April 27, 2021, when he faced Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer.
The 2021 Home Run Derby was offered to Guerrero on June 21, but he turned it down, despite setting records for the most home runs in a single round (29) and the most home runs in a single derby (91) in 2019.
While he was excited about the opportunity to play in the All-Star Game and “refresh mentally,” he also indicated that he wanted to use this time to reflect and prepare for the second half of the season.
On June 26, Guerrero blasted his 50th career home run in his 258th career game, matching his father’s record.
