Vladimir Guerrero Jr is a Canadian-Dominican professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Baseball America and MLB both rated Guerrero as the Blue Jays’ #1 prospect heading into the 2018 season.
An announcement that Guerrero would begin this season with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats was made on March 23 by Blue Jays team president Mark Shapiro.
He was the best hitter in the Eastern League through the first month of the season, batting.398 with 30 RBIs. The Eastern League named Guerrero as the Player of the Month for May on June 4 after the slugger hit.438 with nine home runs and 28 RBI.
Due to an injury to his leg, Guerrero was taken out of the game against the Akron Rubberducks on June 6. A patellar ligament tear in his left knee was discovered three days later, and he was placed on the injured list for at least four weeks.
Following his father’s induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Guerrero was promoted to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on July 28.
In 61 games with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Guerrero batted.402 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI. On August 30, the Blue Jays added Guerrero to the roster of the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League (AFL).
