Barbara Charone is an American public relations officer for musicians residing in the United Kingdom. While still a university student in the early 1970s, she worked as a journalist and music critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, the NME, and Rolling Stone.
She moved to England in 1974 and worked as a staff writer for Sounds magazine, eventually rising to the post of deputy editor. During the 1970s, she also wrote feature stories and reviews for magazines like Crawdaddy!, Creem, and Circus.
Charone began her public relations career at WEA in 1981. She departed in 2000, after becoming the company’s publicity director, to co-found the public relations firm MBC PR.
