He was born on January 16, 1999, in Los Mochis in Mexico. In 2015, the San Diego Padres signed him as an international free agent. He then began playing professional baseball in 2016 with the Arizona Padres of the Rookie-level Arizona League. During the 2017 minor league season, the Padres made him play for the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Class A Short Season Northwest League and the Fort Wayne TinCaps of the Class A Midwest League.
When the season ended, he played in the off-season for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League, where he was the youngest player.
