Sergio Francisco Romo is a professional baseball pitcher now employed with the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He was born in the United States on March 4, 1983.
In 2005, the San Francisco Giants selected Sergio Francisco Romo in the 28th round of the MLB Draft. His previous teams include the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Seattle Mariners, the Minnesota Twins, the Oakland Athletics, and the Tampa Bay Rays.
He now plays for the Seattle Mariners. His slider is his primary offering and he throws right-handed. As part of the Rays’ opener plan in 2018, Rays manager Kevin Cash went with him as the first pitcher in the rotation.
Born in Brawley, California to parents of Mexican ancestry, Romo became a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers during his childhood.
Baseball was a family tradition for both his grandpa and father. His grandfather was a member of the Mexico City Diablos Rojos baseball team.
It was very close to happening, but Romo ultimately decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and play baseball for a junior college rather than join the United States Navy.
Is Sergio Romo Married?
Before Romo ever made it to the major leagues, he tied the knot with his now-ex-wife Chelsea. In January of 2006, the couple welcomed their first child into the world, a son whom they named Rilen.
In September 2011, they had their second son, Rex, and in August 2015, they welcomed their third son, Rhys. Nevertheless, he has not disclosed whether or not he is married at the present time.
