Paul Stanton Sewald, an American pitcher, competes in baseball’s top divisions. He plays baseball for the Seattle Mariners in Major League Baseball. He played high school baseball for Bishop Gorman High School in Summerlin, Nevada.

After he finished high school, he wasn’t signed by any companies, so he enrolled at the University of San Diego and played baseball there for the San Diego Toreros. In the tenth round of the 2012 MLB Draft, he was selected by the New York Mets. He accepted a $1,000 signing bonus in return for agreeing to play for the Mets.

He began his professional career the following year by joining the Brooklyn Cyclones of the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League. In 2013 and 2014, he was a member of the Savannah Sand Gnats of the Class A South Atlantic League and the St. Lucie Mets of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League.

For the 2014 season, he was promoted to the Binghamton Mets of the Class AA Eastern League. He played in the Arizona Fall League after the season was ended. He split the 2015 season between representing the United States’ baseball team in the Pan American Games and Binghamton.

For the 2016 season, the Mets moved him to the Class AAA Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League. Paul made his MLB debut for the Mets on April 8, 2017. After the 2020 season, the Mets did not renew his contract, and in January 2021, he signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners.
